Youth Lagoon is 22 year old Idaho native Trevor Powers. His debut album, the intriguing and charming The Year In Hibernation is an emotive, dreamy lo-fi record which despite his distant and barely decipherable vocals comes across as quite intimate.
The Year In Hibernation is a soundtrack for lonely souls making their journey, whether it be via travelling solitary through lands foreign or familiar, or just a quiet night spent reflecting on ones day, ones life. It’s an album that works best as a whole and while the music isn’t quite immediate it does have an undeniable allure that draws you in.
Check out Montana, 17 and Posters; three of my favourite songs from Youth Lagoons’ debut album and let me know what you think about them? If you like what you hear then I recommend you pick up the album.
