Isn’t it frustrating when you hear a song for the first time, really like it but are unable to figure out the name of the song and who sung it? And isn’t it even more frustrating when you hear the same song later, this time you know the name of the song and the artist but can’t for the life of you figure out where you’ve heard the song before!!
Can’t relate? Well it happens to me quite often and it’s pretty tortuous (and no I’m not going senile, not yet anyway). The last time this happened to me is when I first saw this Diet Coke commercial in the summer of 2010.
I couldn’t the song out of my head but also couldn’t for the life of me figure out who sung it (yes I tried Google, Youtube and the other usual suspects). I gave up eventually and life went on.
A few days ago I was listening to a playlist on 8tracks (another very cool music resource I must say) at around midnight and the song Sweet Disposition by an Australian band called The Temper Trap came on. The song seemed very familiar but again I could not place where I’d heard it before.
This time around I immediately I went to Wikipedia and read their artist profile and there it was; Sweet Disposition had been used for Diet Coke commercial last year.
Phew! I think I’m going to save myself the torture in future and just buy one of those fancy mobile phones with an app where you just shake your phone around to identify any piece of music that you hear and like wherever you may be.
So post hearing the song, can you relate to what i went through or are you like ‘what’s the big deal?’ Either which way let me know in the comments section below or on Facebook or Twitter
