Cool New Music: Heavy Beach

Heavy Beach

I usually take my time before posting a band’s music, but Heavy Beach who I came across yesterday at YANP are just too good to pass up on

They’re a Melbourne, Australia based trio – with Ali E on vocals and guitar, Mark Renall on drums and Clayton Pegus on bass – who make Indie rock with shoegazey/post punk hues and come across as a groovier, more melodic, less abrasive even tamer (and I don’t mean that in a negative sense at all) avatar of Sonic Youth.

Heavy Beach released their self titled debut EP last month, check out 1963, Fire and Five Days from that effort below. Stream the EP here and head to their Triple J page to download some of their songs for free.
