HAIM is the young & talented sister trio of Este (bass guitar, vocals), Danielle (lead guitar, vocals), Alana Haim (rhythm guitar, keyboard/percussion) along with drummer Dash Hutton. Having performed as part of a family band – Rockinhaim – from an early age, the sisters branched off on their own in 2008 and it’s taken them about four years to arrive at a sound that they’re happy with.
I’m not a big fan of R&B, but I find HAIM’s current brand of earwormy folksy alt rock infused R&B pop quite irresistible. The clincher is that while on record their sound leans more towards the R&B side but when it comes to performing live the sisters are real firecrackers and find it hard to resist their rock leanings (with a special proclivity towards using drums for their finale).
HAIM have opened for the likes of Julian Casablancas, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes and even Ke$ha and released an exquisite 3 song EP Forever in Feb 2012. Each song on the EP – Forever, Better Off and Go Slow – is special and you can listen to them below.
